OLIVÉR LEE & JOE KUČERA
Czech saxophone legend presents an exceptional Hungarian guitarist.
Olivér Lee (born 1988), a musician, songwriter, and music producer who has been honored with the ARTISJUS AWARD, is a well-known figure in the Hungarian music scene, primarily as the guitarist for his bands “ék” and “Trillion,” but also through his solo concerts. In 2010, he graduated from the MZTSZ Kőbánya Music Studio. That same year, he won the national SONY and HANOSZ guitar competitions. Throughout his musical career, he has performed with some of the most renowned artists in the Hungarian and international pop music scenes, including Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Stewart Copeland (The Police), Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep), and Fernando Saunders (Lou Reed, Jeff Beck).
A few years ago, saxophonist Joe Kučera was once again invited to a festival in Moravia/Wallachia, his homeland; this time as a guest musician in various bands,
without his musical partners and friends Jesse Ballard (†), Carlos Mieres, or Simone Reifegerste.
To his surprise, Olivér Lee also spontaneously invited him onto the festival stage. Since then, they have performed together time and again in the Czech Republic. “In a way, Olivér reminds me of the young Jesse Ballard,” says Joe Kučera. This is one of the reasons for inviting the Hungarian blues guitarist and songwriter to join this year’s EUROPA BLUES TRAIN FESTIVAL in June for a song tour. We’re looking forward to a rousing duet between two exceptional musicians on their instruments.
